Todd Delaney:

Discussing topics of interest to the university, Hammond, and the surrounding communities. This is the Lions Roundtable. Now, here's your host, doctor Amber Nero.

Dr. Amber Narro:

Good day. Good day. This is Amber Narro on KSLU's ninety point nine FM, the Lion. I am here with my friend, Alexis Sterling. She is from Options, and she's gonna be chatting with me today.

Dr. Amber Narro:

Hi, Alexis. Good morning, Amber. Good morning. But before that, I have to say that I just got back from sunny San Diego, and now I'm back in sunny Louisiana today after a couple of days of kinda being a little cold snap in between. Wasn't sunny yesterday. Just a little cold snap, but it feels today like San Diego did last week. So very exciting.

Alexis Sterling:

Well, it's beautiful outside today. It was about 60 this morning when I walked out.

Dr. Amber Narro:

Gosh. It's so nice. It's beautiful. But the sunshine, man, bring your sunglasses if you're going outside today.

Alexis Sterling:

Funny on you.

Dr. Amber Narro:

Mercy me. So last week, I was in the I was in San Diego with a couple of students at the National Collegiate Honors Conference.

Alexis Sterling:

Oh,

Dr. Amber Narro:

We had an absolute ball. We got lots of great information. I'm gonna tell you, if your kid is in this area and they are a smart kid, you need to send them to Southeastern because I'm putting them together some programming that is gonna rock their world. We're gonna have a great time in these several coming years.

Alexis Sterling:

Passionate when you talk about my honors program. And you it. Talk about it.

Dr. Amber Narro:

You really I love it. These are we have some great smart kids around here, so I'm pumped up about them. So we're we're getting ready to do some awesome things in this area. So, Alexis, so glad to have you.

Alexis Sterling:

Thank This

Dr. Amber Narro:

is all about you today.

Alexis Sterling:

About me.

Dr. Amber Narro:

Even though I gotta get started with a little of me because that's, you know, unfortunately. Sorry.

Alexis Sterling:

But It's about options.

Dr. Amber Narro:

Options. Yes. My my passion and my love as far as nonprofits and service organizations in this area. How are my people? Wonderful.

Alexis Sterling:

Everything at Options is great.

Dr. Amber Narro:

Every day. Every day

Alexis Sterling:

at Options is a good day.

Dr. Amber Narro:

Speaking of passions, thank you, Alexis.

Alexis Sterling:

I mean, it really is. You know, we talk about this all the time. But when you work on campus and you get to see so many people and you get to see their milestones. Right? We talk about this sometimes, like, direct care workers, they get to be hands on.

Alexis Sterling:

They get to see them every day. They get to, you know, make a difference in their lives. And sometimes in an administrative capacity, we don't always see participants. Have to make a point. Like, walk away from your desk, stop what you're doing, and go engage and go be a part of that mission.

Alexis Sterling:

And those are my favorite moments of the day. When I had a participant come and tell me he had been looking for a job for a long time, and he was trying to find a good fit. And he's like, I finally got a job. I finally got a job. And he comes in my office all excited, You know?

Alexis Sterling:

And he's like, I'm I have orientation and I have this and look at my new polo and, you know

Dr. Amber Narro:

Oh, I love you get to be a part

Alexis Sterling:

of those those moments.

Dr. Amber Narro:

I love that. Let's give a little shout out to some of our local employers then for

Alexis Sterling:

for options. Incredible. First Guaranty Bank, Joseph Ernest, we just had a twenty fifth employment anniversary there and they had a little party for him. At Wolf Lumber, Robert Chandler, I think he's been over there over twenty years. So, this community really embraces, people with disabilities, Albertsons, Piggly Wiggly, employers.

Alexis Sterling:

Absolutely. North Lots of folks. The North Oaks internship, we could talk about that forever.

Dr. Amber Narro:

An internship. Talk to me about

Alexis Sterling:

You you've got to know.

Dr. Amber Narro:

I I didn't know that you just had an internship. Okay.

Alexis Sterling:

Yes. So started I

Dr. Amber Narro:

knew that they were employing them, but I didn't know what this I don't know about this internship situation.

Alexis Sterling:

Absolutely. We love to talk about this. This is brand new. We just had our first group of three participants who went through the North Oaks internship program. So they have the opportunity to work in three different departments.

Alexis Sterling:

So they go through the custodial department, the materials department, and the cafeteria. Okay. And so they get access and opportunity to really have that on the job training. There's a job coach working with them. It's a safe space for them to really explore employment opportunities and see what they might be interested in as well as, you know, hands on support for them to learn that job and that position.

Alexis Sterling:

So we had our first inaugural class that just finished about two weeks ago now. They did their eighteen week internship program. We have our next group who's in their paperwork process to be able

Dr. Amber Narro:

to get

Alexis Sterling:

started. But for eighteen weeks, three times a week, Monday, Wednesday, Friday, we had Caitlin, Dana, and Chelsea who are our first three class participants, and they had an incredible time. And special thank you to Sarah Mitchell and Michelle Sutt over at North Oaks who really just they took it, and they ran with it. It took a couple of years for them to really iron out all the details and how this would work. But it is an incredible program, an incredible opportunity for people with disabilities.

Dr. Amber Narro:

Right. And when you're thinking about things like health care, just to kinda to preface that or to follow that, I should say, we wanna make sure that people understand that, like, individuals with disabilities have to kind of be they have to go through the same process that a lot of people who are traditional types of employees as far as orientation is concerned. Yes. Making sure that they have the right paperwork in place. And then youire dealing with not only one organization that has a lot of, health care regulations, but you're also dealing with options that has a lot of regulations involved with it.

Dr. Amber Narro:

So that's why the process took maybe a little bit longer than to to get in place in other, areas. But it certainly is appreciated, and I'm looking forward to seeing what the outcomes are

Alexis Sterling:

of that. We're we're really excited. You know, the first group of participants, they were so excited. They had their badges. They had their North Oaks swag.

Alexis Sterling:

You know, everyone at North Oaks. Caitlin would come in, and she's like, I love going there. She's like, they spoil us.

Dr. Amber Narro:

Oh, I love it.

Alexis Sterling:

And they absolutely did. The participants had a blast, and they got so much experience. Mhmm. You know, like, is this something you're interested in? You know, one participant, she found her niche, and she that's where she wanted to be.

Alexis Sterling:

And I think she kinda ended those last few weeks of the internship staying in that one department. Love it. That's where her niche was. Kaylin really enjoyed the materials because she liked to go see all of the other people and all of the doctors and all the nurses. You know, they all kinda just found where they fit.

Alexis Sterling:

I love it. Really excited.

Dr. Amber Narro:

I love it. I love it. And, obviously, the hope is to turn internships into long term

Alexis Sterling:

employment individuals. Whether they're interested in employment at North Oaks or if they kinda found what they're enjoying and what they're passionate about. And maybe they want to explore more into that field. You know, this is such a great stepping stone and a great opportunity for them.

Dr. Amber Narro:

Indeed. Speaking of long term employment, I saw miss Yvonne at the Oh, yes.

Alexis Sterling:

At the

Dr. Amber Narro:

grand opening of this building, just a few weeks ago. She was sitting outside

Alexis Sterling:

She was.

Dr. Amber Narro:

And was very excited to be here. So, we we tell the story about when Robin Roberts came to the telethon several years ago, and all the participants were very excited to meet Sallie Anne's sister. Sallie Anne's sister. That's right. It is I will never forget that as long as I live that they were like, you're Sallie Anne's sister.

Dr. Amber Narro:

They were amazed with Robin, and she was so proud in that moment to be Sallie Anne's sister because that is who she is. And she is so proud of her sister, and her sister is so proud of her. And they're proud of their third sister. So, Dorothy. So, I mean, they are just absolutely it is just it's a beautiful trio for sure.

Dr. Amber Narro:

So we we appreciate them, everything that they've done to get this building together. It's gorgeous. And supporting By the way. And definitely Robin Roberts for supporting this effort. You were coming in this morning.

Dr. Amber Narro:

You said it has that new car smell.

Alexis Sterling:

It absolutely does. Yeah. I think this is the first word Zach has said. It smells new in here.

Dr. Amber Narro:

Yes. Look. I walked up. A little different than the old D Vickers for sure.

Alexis Sterling:

I walked up those D Vickers stairs. That was a workout. Yeah. Yeah. Many many moons ago.

Dr. Amber Narro:

Yeah. I'm there. I'm almost I almost miss them. I don't. You know?

Dr. Amber Narro:

I do. I do. I do miss them.

Alexis Sterling:

So Also, don't miss, you know, the the cold. Yeah. Although it's a little chilly in here today. Always found this building was just so cold.

Dr. Amber Narro:

Yeah. But it's not anymore. I mean, the carpet that's in here, the beautiful the the stunning, awesome colors and the warm vibe of it. And wait until the people get in. So right now, we're still a little bit, separated from the university center.

Dr. Amber Narro:

They haven't moved everything over here from, the Southeastern Channel. Obviously, it's difficult to do that in the middle of the semester. Right? So, if you've ever worked in or around a university, you know that no changes happen until January, June, and August when things

Alexis Sterling:

When things say. When That's

Dr. Amber Narro:

semesters are over or just beginning because you can't disrupt what's happening in a student's in a student's curriculum. For sure. And you can imagine if you're in the middle of, you know, something with your house, if you're trying to move something and and move other people back in, it's the same thing. And and students are we need to keep consistency for them. So, that's the only reason that we haven't moved everything into this area yet is that we are mid semester.

Alexis Sterling:

It takes time.

Dr. Amber Narro:

Right. But I I can assure you. Over that winter break. I can assure you, people are starting to things in boxes. That's it.

Dr. Amber Narro:

It's happening and we are very excited to be over here in this area.

Alexis Sterling:

Midterms and finals and.

Dr. Amber Narro:

Oh. Yes. I mean, Thanksgiving is next week and at that point, it is. It's pretty much over. It's mid over.

Dr. Amber Narro:

At that point. We are we all of the end games are are happening. You know, it's it's finals, the trophies are gonna be awarded. This is it.

Alexis Sterling:

This is

Dr. Amber Narro:

the end of the race. Yes. Indeed. Indeed. Now, another thing that's happened since the last time I talked to you, I was actually still at North Shore Broadcasting the last time we chatted, so it's been a bit.

Dr. Amber Narro:

It's been a while. And you have had balling for options has happened during that We We did. Tell me about balling

Alexis Sterling:

for options. Incredible outcome this year. We raised over $90,000 this year at balling for options. Wow. Is that the biggest ever?

Alexis Sterling:

Oh, it absolutely is. We were presented by the Oscar J Thomas Charitable Trust. So we're very thankful for their presenting sponsorship. We also had our team sponsors, our champions party sponsors. I mean, the amount of support that the community gives for this event is outrageous.

Dr. Amber Narro:

It's so fun.

Alexis Sterling:

You we don't have to it's not a it's not a real ask. They come to us, and they're like, we wanna support this. We wanna be a part of this. We're very thankful this was our eighth year. So, man, I'm making it to 10.

Alexis Sterling:

I got I got big plans for 10. So, you

Dr. Amber Narro:

know, we I

Alexis Sterling:

never imagined when we started this game back in 2017 that it would still be standing. And that it it honestly, it's bigger and bigger every year.

Dr. Amber Narro:

It's crazy because I remember when it started, and I missed it this year. I'm very bummed about that. But I'm I'm I want to come back for sure Mhmm. Because I'm the nacho person. I like

Alexis Sterling:

making nachos. Look. Rodney asked for you in the concession stand too. She said, where's where's where's that lady? She was so helpful.

Alexis Sterling:

She was in the job. I'm like, who are you talking about? I'm like, looking through pictures, and I'm like, her? And I'm like, she's got a story about nachos.

Dr. Amber Narro:

I'm coming. I'm coming back. So my story about option, nachos, just for those of you who might be just listening now, is that when I was in, when I was bringing Shane to school a long time ago, like, twenty years ago when he was in junior high, I got in trouble. I did. I did.

Dr. Amber Narro:

Because I would be late in the mornings. And I'm talking, like, two or three minutes late. Right? And they called me and they said, okay, Nero. Here's the deal.

Dr. Amber Narro:

Yeah. He's been late several day. He's gonna have to go to detention. I felt so bad. I was like, this is my fault.

Dr. Amber Narro:

I am the one who has done this. The reason. And and my sweet one of the ladies that I went to church with worked at the junior high at that time, and she goes, okay. So I gotta I gotta plan. You have to work the concession stand tonight.

Dr. Amber Narro:

And I had to make nachos. So that's my that's my story. That's a good story. I went and I I did my time, and I I paid for the fees. I did the crime.

Dr. Amber Narro:

It was my fault, and I went in. And I I suggest this to any PTA group or any, any administration But you

Alexis Sterling:

gotta go sling nachos.

Dr. Amber Narro:

Yep. You gotta sling nachos. You keep your kid out of detention if it's if it's your fault. You know? Now if it's theirs and they're pouting and having a fit in the morning, it is it truly is their fault.

Dr. Amber Narro:

Make them pay the pay the dues. Make them pay

Alexis Sterling:

the dues.

Dr. Amber Narro:

But, you know, it was. It was a whole it was a whole bunch of me. So You know, I did. It's a

Alexis Sterling:

lot to get out of the

Dr. Amber Narro:

house in the morning, and

Alexis Sterling:

anyone who says that it isn't with a child is

Dr. Amber Narro:

Yeah. That's a But I got a new skill. You know? I can make nachos.

Alexis Sterling:

And now you are the nacho lady.

Dr. Amber Narro:

I am the nacho lady. Indeed. I even asked for you. I I love it. I love it.

Dr. Amber Narro:

Now with this event, several years ago when it first started, so eight years ago, we're we're at eight years, I remember it just being kind of something that we wanted to do for the individuals. You know? We wanted them to get out. And and, of course, that is still our focus. Right?

Dr. Amber Narro:

And that, to me, is the reason that it's gonna continue on and be a fantastic fundraising effort for Options and a fantastic thing for the community because it truly did not start as simply a fundraiser. It started for it started at the heart of our mission. It did. And I talk about when we talk to nonprofits, when I talk to students in class, when I'm when I'm when we're talking about planning and and and doing events, I'm like, where is your mission in this? Mhmm.

Dr. Amber Narro:

You know? And because this event was so laser focused on the mission of the organization is is why it succeeds.

Alexis Sterling:

You know, it's funny that you say that because if Casey was here with me today, she we go back and forth. When it was started, it was a health and wellness event and a community awareness event. Mhmm. And we are I say all the time,

Dr. Amber Narro:

it's not a fundraiser.

Alexis Sterling:

I stand firm. It's not a fundraiser. And she's like, yeah. Well, that fundraiser just made $90,000. That not a fundraiser.

Dr. Amber Narro:

That's not a fundraiser. That not a fundraiser. Just raised $90.

Alexis Sterling:

But, you know, we laugh about it. But truly, you know, when we come to expenses for the game, you know, it's, oh, what are we doing for the participants? Like, what are they what are they getting from it? Like, what you know, we put a lot of focus into making sure we extended practices this year for an extra thirty minutes. So they're now an hour and a half long for fifteen weeks.

Alexis Sterling:

You know, what what more can we do to make it a better experience for them, whether it was the player cards for them to pass out at halftime or at their champions party when they get, you know, a special prize or a special award, adding in the MVP awards. And, you know, we've we've added in these I can't forget. We added mascots this year. That's amazing. So we had, and that was through a participant.

Alexis Sterling:

He came to us. He drew a picture last year and said, you need this. And this is as real as it gets. He brought me the picture after the game two years ago and said, I wanna be a mascot, and I wanna look like this. Well, you know what, buddy?

Alexis Sterling:

Next year, come to practice. And he did. He came to practice and said, I wanna be a mascot. And him and his girlfriend were the Purple Knight and the orange rocket. No.

Alexis Sterling:

A house divided. Oh, yeah. It was a house divided. But, hey, we are everyone's a winner. Everyone's a champion.

Alexis Sterling:

Everyone played hard. But and they did. They rocked their mascot costumes. We even had an employee who dressed up as a giant basketball, and they went around and greeted guests and, you know, had a great time. It really is a participant focus.

Alexis Sterling:

If they have an idea, we wanna make it happen for them. We want them to have all those opportunities, and we want them to feel like superstars on game day.

Dr. Amber Narro:

Indeed. Indeed. And I love that y'all are doing this and continuing this effort to really celebrate people with disabilities in this area. It is a fun game to watch.

Alexis Sterling:

Oh my gosh. It's so

Dr. Amber Narro:

much It is super it's super competitive. And it has resulted in health and wellness for people with disabilities. Because in between the games each year and you're talking about fifteen weeks of practice. That's a long time. Right?

Dr. Amber Narro:

But several of them have gotten basketball goals at their homes Mhmm. Are making sure that they practice during the during the

Alexis Sterling:

off miss Yvonne Khan. She is one participant. She's played since the very beginning. And she'll tell you during the off season when we're not playing for basketball for balling, She's like, I go home. I make my shots.

Alexis Sterling:

I make sure I keep up with them. I go ride my bike. I stay healthy. Robert Keltner, this was his first year playing this year. And not

Dr. Amber Narro:

talking about 20 year olds, y'all.

Alexis Sterling:

Miss Yvonne's over 60 for sure. Yeah. Sometimes when I have to do their player cards and their stats, and I'm like, you weren't twice my age, and you moved, like, way faster than me. Yep. Robert Keller, he lost a lot of weight.

Alexis Sterling:

He really worked. We had a a grant that we utilized through Spoga, and he was exercising. He was losing weight. He was watching his health. He was so excited.

Alexis Sterling:

He's like, this year, I think I can play. I think I can make it up and down the court. And he did. He killed it. He was great.

Alexis Sterling:

You know, getting to see they they get to accomplish and they hit these milestones, milestones, and and then then they get to reap the benefits of being able to be fully engaged with their peers playing a full sport. You know?

Dr. Amber Narro:

Has got to be so gratifying Absolutely. For everybody who works with this event, seeing people with disabilities really come out of their shell and even create a new shell for themselves.

Alexis Sterling:

You know, some of the participants a couple years ago, they were like, you know, I just don't think I can play anymore. Can can we be coaches? Because for mister Fabrizio has been

Dr. Amber Narro:

Yeah.

Alexis Sterling:

The head coach since the beginning. And I'm like, you can absolutely coach, you gotta learn how to coach. You know, we gotta be we gotta be fair. We gotta encourage people. And so I actually had someone who has played for the past couple years, and this year, he had an injury in the off season.

Alexis Sterling:

And he's like, you know, I wanna play. I just don't feel like I can, can a coach. I said, absolutely. And he stepped in, and we had two individuals in wheelchairs this year, which were inclusive. Everyone gets to play.

Alexis Sterling:

But then we have to designate a person to ensure that they're they're moving with the game. He stepped up without being asked, without being told. He's like, I got it. Me and Stacy are gonna work together. And there they go.

Alexis Sterling:

He's bringing her up and down the court. He's helping her when she gets the ball. You know, our participants are stepping up and taking leadership roles even in this game, like, getting to see their growth. From the first practice when and I tell this story every year because it's my favorite. The very first practice when we were at Spoka, all the participants came in and sat along the side of the wall on the court.

Alexis Sterling:

No one played with the balls. No one did anything. They waited. They waited for us to say, okay. We're gonna play basketball.

Alexis Sterling:

Like, no one knew what we were gonna do. No one knew quite what this was gonna become. But now, I mean, I walk into practice.

Dr. Amber Narro:

They're like, you're late. I'm like, it's 02:30. Practice doesn't start until three. I'm not late. I'm here to get the balls and lower the coals.

Dr. Amber Narro:

We've already done that.

Alexis Sterling:

Yeah. They've already done that. They're already starting. They're warming up. They're stretching.

Alexis Sterling:

They're getting

Dr. Amber Narro:

you know, they're doing things. And I'm like Love that.

Alexis Sterling:

I'm just here.

Dr. Amber Narro:

Love it. That's But it's cool. That's perfect, though. That's when your event has taken on its own life. And that's what you have done for that event.

Dr. Amber Narro:

So thank you very much for

Alexis Sterling:

everything you've done. It does. It takes a

Dr. Amber Narro:

whole team. I know. But it started with you. And that's massive for this organization. And and what it's done, I would bet over eight years that we are we are clicking on 200 if we're if we're not over that as far as total raised for the event.

Alexis Sterling:

Oh, we're definitely over that. Yeah. In eight years,

Dr. Amber Narro:

for sure. Yeah. That's amazing. That's amazing.

Alexis Sterling:

For the first year, really, all it had to do is cover his expenses. That was the that was the header. You had to cover your expenses, and we did. But since then, it's it's certainly helped our organization

Dr. Amber Narro:

Thank you. And participants. I appreciate that so much. Alright. So we're gushing over you, and that's okay.

Dr. Amber Narro:

That's what we do. Tahira, tell me what's happening during the holidays for you guys.

Alexis Sterling:

Oh, yes. Well, for the holidays, so much happening. I was just looking at our calendar the other week. We have something I feel like it's every week from now through the end of the year. We've got our community home family dinner this coming weekend.

Alexis Sterling:

We're excited. We got Sunrise Rotary here in Hammond who's gonna be helping us volunteering for that event. Following that, we're gonna have a talent show at Options. We got our Christmas party coming up, the Christmas showcase at First Christian Church coming up in December, and just all the holidays and festivities. We've got volunteer groups coming to do arts and crafts projects, volunteers coming to do a big day at Fabulous Finds.

Alexis Sterling:

When I tell you, the community and the participants are just active and involved this time of year. We love to see it.

Dr. Amber Narro:

Love that. Love it. What can we do?

Alexis Sterling:

Contact options and get involved. You know, so many people are like, well, we don't really know what we can do. Let's talk about it. Let's talk about what do you like to do. Something that I've really strove to focus on when I have people call who are interested in volunteering is, well, what do you like?

Alexis Sterling:

What do you wanna do? And then finding a way to integrate that into the programs that we offer. We actually have a group, called the Upbeats. I think they're out of Covington. And they were like, you know, we're we're a little quiet group.

Alexis Sterling:

We wanna come and sing some Christmas carols. You know, do you do you have anybody who'd be interested in listening? Like, how what can we do? So they're coming to campus one day in December in the afternoon. A couple of choir members coming on their lunch break, and they're gonna play the piano and sing some Christmas carols with the participants.

Alexis Sterling:

You know, we can make an event happen that is suitable to the volunteer and integrate it into our programs. So you can combine missions. Combined missions. It's a win win for everyone. Right?

Alexis Sterling:

I love that. Or so, you know, reach out to Options. Get involved. You know, you can always visit our website if you're interested in learning more about

Dr. Amber Narro:

the

Alexis Sterling:

volunteer opportunities. If you're looking for employment, again, visit our website. Options, thenumberfour,letteru.org forward slash join our team. Learn more about our organization and be a part of that mission with us.

Dr. Amber Narro:

What else do you guys have going on at Options? I know you've got to have some things happening on campus during the holidays and kinda getting ready for Thanksgiving and all of the events that are coming, any fundraisers that are happening that we need to keep on our radar or anything coming soon?

Alexis Sterling:

No. So no major fundraisers right now. You know, Giving Tuesday is around the corner. We like to be a part of the conversation. Big, big fundraising day for everyone, everywhere for these nonprofit organizations.

Alexis Sterling:

But, you know, if you're looking to learn more about an organization and contribute your dollars, if you're looking to contribute it into the year gift for your taxes, you know, certainly, learn more about us and get involved with our mission and see, how you can support a local community organization.

Dr. Amber Narro:

And how are you? Let's talk about you. Let's talk about me.

Alexis Sterling:

Yeah. Who am I? Yeah. No. I'm doing great.

Alexis Sterling:

Options keeps me busy, of course. But I've just been just been living life. Look, I'm I'm excited. I had a friend of mine get married last weekend. I've got another friend who gender reveal is this coming weekend.

Dr. Amber Narro:

Oh, go on.

Alexis Sterling:

Just in a season of life, there's just a lot happening around me. Yeah. Yeah. So but all good and all positive things and just staying busy.

Dr. Amber Narro:

Well, I need everybody to think about me this weekend because I've got Noah, my four year old grandson, and he is wide open. So I need y'all to think about me.

Alexis Sterling:

My boyfriend's daughter is four years old, and so I'm very familiar with the four year olds.

Dr. Amber Narro:

Yeah. Mhmm. We're we're we're getting these things are happening around me right now. You got lots of things. Noah is is wide open.

Dr. Amber Narro:

20 points. When I say wide open, I'm I'm just hoping I can sleep at some point this weekend.

Alexis Sterling:

My I mean, even

Dr. Amber Narro:

at night, like nighttime would be great to sleep.

Alexis Sterling:

My favorite is when, you know, so the time changed. Okay? The time change was hard on first of all, I would like to start a petition for there not to be a time change anymore.

Dr. Amber Narro:

Takes There already is one. It it takes me, like, a month to adjust. And then I look outside, and I'm like, it's dark. I swear. It says 05:00 on the river on the clock, but it feels like nine.

Alexis Sterling:

Yeah.

Dr. Amber Narro:

I feel like I need to be in bed. Everybody's hearing you right now. They're you're getting amens all over. Neither here nor there.

Alexis Sterling:

But during the time change, the, you know, the one or two days after, she woke up at 05:00 and was like, bright eyed and bushy tailed. The sun's up. It's time to get up. I said, no, ma'am.

Dr. Amber Narro:

Go back. Try again. Go back. I was like This is not happening.

Alexis Sterling:

This is not happening. Well, can I have some breakfast? No.

Dr. Amber Narro:

Starve. It's 05:00 in the morning. Well, my thing, last time, the the time changed, and then I went to San Diego.

Alexis Sterling:

Oh, so then you were, like really thrown off.

Dr. Amber Narro:

I'm up at 03:00 in the morning. I'm trying to go to bed at, like, 07:00 at night. These things, it I was my whole situation was confused. So I just tried to stay what to do. As much in that time as I could because I didn't wanna adjust and then have to come back here.

Dr. Amber Narro:

Right. So I tried to stay close to the time. Typical times. Maybe if I was waking up, maybe lay there for a little while longer till about four and try to get up before I moved. So it was it was pretty wild.

Dr. Amber Narro:

It was pretty wild. But I'm appreciative. I'm back I'm back in in that central time zone again. Back in the right timeline. I'm right again.
